Scholarships, Discounts & Work Trade Opportunities

The $600 deposit is a standard fee all students, including those receiving scholarships.

Scholarship and Work-Trade positions are available for both 200 and 300 Hour programs.

 
 

YOGA FOR SERVICE ($300 scholarship)

For those actively volunteering their time and energies. One scholarship per cohort in 200 and 300 Hour programs.

To apply:

  • Write a brief essay detailing your service; what do you do, how long you’ve been doing it and why.

  • Answer the following questions:
    1. what does service mean to you?
    2. how do you think we can encourage more people to serve as part of their every day lives?
    3. what kind of service would you like to see more of and how can you help make that happen?

  • Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from the people or organization(s) you work with.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION in Yoga ($500 scholarship)

TSY's mission is to make yoga more accessible and welcoming. Because yoga has a serious diversity problem, we want you and your ideas and help to change that. This scholarship is available to one BIPOC person per cohort in 200 & 300 Hour programs.

To apply:

  • Please answer the following:

    • What barriers do you see/have you experienced when practicing yoga?

    • How do you think yoga can improve?

    • How do you hope to apply your training?

  • Provide one (1) letter of recommendation.

YOGA FOR VETERANS ($500 scholarship)

$2400 total tuition

For a veteran interested in learning to teach yoga. The scholarship is open to all veterans, any age, male or female per cohort in 200 and 300 hour programs.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be a veteran. Please tell us what armed forces you served in.

  • Have a working knowledge of yoga (must not be an absolute beginner).

  • Write an essay answering the following questions:

    • Who are you?

    • Why Yoga?

    • Why do you want to do a yoga teacher training?

  • Provide one (1) letter of recommendation. Letters do not have to be from your military service.

Discounts & Work Trade

NYPD, NYFD, EMTs & NYC Public School Teachers: $200 discount.

  • Must be currently employed and provide proof of employment with application.

Work Trade - Cleaning: $200 discount for month long/$400 discount for weekends & 300 Hour*

Required work:

  • Vacuum, mop & dust the studio

  • Clean the bathroom

  • Remove trash as necessary

*This is a weekly commitment during your training. You must come in once a week every week to clean. If you have a planned scheduling conflict, please do not apply for this work trade.

Work Trade Proposals*

To submit a proposal for an alternative work-trade:

  • a bio. Tell us a little about yourself and why you want to do your training with TSY

  • an updated resume

  • two (2) letters of recommendation

  • Your proposal. Detail the trade; how it would work, the amount of time needed to complete, the expected outcome, etc. Be specific and clear. Include what you believe your work trade is worth. (Note: regardless of the trade arrangements, everyone must submit the $600 deposit with their application).

*Work trade obligations must be completed prior to your training. We do not offer a “training first – work after” option. Again, all work must be completed prior to your training.

All information, including your letters of recommendation, must be sent electronically in one email. Write: “Work-Trade Application – Trade You Are Proposing” in the re: line. Email materials to: threesistersyogainfo@gmail.com.
